How does the Envirolet? work?
Envirolet? reduces wastes up to 90% via composting and evaporation. Waste is approximately 90% liquid. When this 90% is evaporated, the 10% remaining is turned into a dry, compost material.
How does the evaporation occur?
Evaporation occurs naturally through the venting system, but is expediated by the Envirolet? features. Non-Electric models use a 4" Wind Turbine, 12v Battery models use a 4" Wind Turbine and dual 12v Fans and 110v Electric models use a 500W Heater and dual 110v Fans. 110v Electric Waterless and Low Water Remote Systems use a 500W Heater, dual 110v Fans and a 4" Wind Turbine.
How do you empty the Envirolet®?
Emptying the Envirolet? is easy. First, the Rake Bar (bottom bar) is pulled back and forth to drop the composted material into the Removable Tray. Next, the Bottom Panel is removed by loosening the 4 easy-to-use hand knobs. Finally, the Tray is removed with the composted material.
What has to be added to the system?
Peat-moss (standard, garden variety) should be added regularily to the system. We recommend 1/4 cup of peat moss per person per day (i.e., add 1 cup of peat moss if 4 people are using the system).
Do 110v Electric systems have to be left on all the time?
No. It is recommended that while the system is going to be in use that both the Fans and Heater be on. If the system is going to be left for up to 2 weeks, the system should be switched to Fans Only operation (by using the 2-position switch located on the Top Panel). If the system is going to be unused for more than 2 weeks, the unit can be completely shut off.
Is everything needed for installation included with my new Envirolet??
Everything is included with Envirolet® systems except 4" rigid pipe for the vent on Waterless or Low Water Remote Systems. Four feet of 4" Flexible Vent is supplied, but 4" rigid pipe (standard ABS pipe) must be supplied by the consumer. Additional pipe, couplings or other accessories may be required. Please be sure to look at what is included in the complete system package when ordering.
Does the vent have to be vertical?
It is highly recommended that system vents be vertical, especially in Non-Electric systems, to ensure proper evaporation of liquid. Bends in the vent should not exceed 45 degrees in any system. If a system is going to be installed with a bend in the vent, an Envirolet? Turbo Fan is recommended to increase performance.
